Infrared Camera in Outdoor Housing for Process Monitoring, Early Fire & Hotspot Detection
The Xi 400 CM package combines a Xi 400 thermal imager, high-definition visible light camera, and USB server pre-assembled in an outdoor protective housing for a ready-to-install condition monitoring and fire detection solution. The housing features an integrated heater/fan allowing operation across a wide -40°C to 50°C temperature range without impacting measurement accuracy.
The 382 x 288 pixel Xi 400 infrared camera has an 80Hz frame rate to capture fast thermal processes. Meanwhile, the 1280 x 720 pixel visual camera records sharp HD video at 30fps with a 65° field of view, complementing the IR imaging. The plug-and-play USB server enables easy integration of both camera feeds into monitoring systems.
With a robust IP66-rated casing, high thermal sensitivity Xi 400 imager, and dual camera capabilities, this package delivers 24/7 monitoring for early detection of hotspots, fires, and other environmental anomalies in demanding industrial settings. The complete unit with a wall mounting bracket provides straightforward installation for critical asset protection.

Specifications
Outdoor Protective Housing
The outdoor protective housing for the package has an IP66 rating for withstanding harsh environments. It operates from -40°C to 50°C thanks to an integrated heater and fan system. The 24V DC power supply provides 70W of power at a 3A normal draw. An integrated air purge collar adds further protection. The durable aluminium housing weighs approximately 2kg, or 2.5kg with the wall mount bracket, and allows up to a 90° field of view.
Infared Camera Xi 400
Inside, the Xi 400 infrared camera enables high-performance thermal imaging. It captures images at 382 x 288 pixel resolution with an 80Hz frame rate for fast processes. Various interchangeable lens options provide 18° to 80° fields of view. The Xi 400 has a thermal sensitivity of 80mK and runs off USB or PoE via the server.
Visual Camera
Supplementing the IR capabilities, the package includes an HD visual camera with 1280 x 720 resolution at 30fps. The 1/4″ lens size supports up to 65° diagonal field of view. Like the Xi 400, the video camera is powered through the USB server via USB or PoE.
Applications of the Thermal Imager
The integrated unit provides both thermal and visual imaging for continuous environmental oversight and early hotspot detection in demanding and industrial settings.
Infrared cameras can be sensitive to extreme temperatures, humidity, and dust. To enable reliable thermal imaging in harsh environments, Optris developed a rugged new outdoor protective housing. This IP66-rated enclosure safeguards cameras from adverse conditions for uninterrupted operation.
Uniquely, the housing allows the integrated configuration of both an infrared camera and an HD visual camera into one compact system. A USB server is also built-in for connectivity. The enclosure complies with IP66 for dust and moisture protection. An integrated heating element activates below 15°C while a fan evenly distributes warmth, allowing use in frigid -40°C conditions. The housing also withstands scorching temperatures up to 50°C.
Optional Air Purge Attachment
Optional air purge attachments provide further protection when needed. By shielding cameras from the elements, the innovative housing enables accurate infrared thermography and visual monitoring 24/7, even in challenging industrial settings. The durable casing ensures optimal thermal imaging performance despite dust, humidity, extreme cold, heat, and other environmental threats.
